Hi everyone! I’m currently working on a project where I need to sync lighting effects with live music using MADRIX 5. I’m looking for advice on the most efficient methods to achieve this. Specifically, I’m interested in:
Techniques for real-time audio analysis and how to use it to trigger lighting effects.
Best practices for setting up and configuring MADRIX 5 for live performances.
Any tips on using specific features or plugins within MADRIX 5 that enhance synchronization with live music.
Any insights or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Hi wandrill,

Welcome to the MADRIX Forum!

MADRIX 5 effects that can be synronized to audio input are:

1) Sound2Light Effects (S2L):
- Analyzes the incomming audio frequencies, as a result stunning light effects that are syncronized to the audio input will be generated.
- For example the "S2L Frequency Flash" effect analyzes the audio input for certain frequencies and flashes the LED Matrix in a desired Color.

2) Music2Light Effects (M2L):
- M2L effects go one step further than S2L Effects and analyse music theoretical parameters to create truly unique representations of the music.
- M2L Note Flash for example analyzes the music for certain notes and flashes the LED Matrix in a desired color when the note occurs.

All you need is an audio input signal and a hardware interface for the data output to the fixtures.
For non-live operation MADRIX 5 features the so-called "Timelines", this allows you to arrange your lighting effects according to an audio track (or multiple Audio tracks).

Remote Control / Triggering:

In order to call the lighting effects (live) in MADRIX 5 remotely you can use MIDI (e.g. a MIDI Controller) or OSC for example. This is also what many users do in a "live" environment.
The lighting effects in MADRIX 5 are stored in so-called "Storage Places", a Storage Place can contain multiple effects.
Apart from MIDI and OSC MADRIX 5 can be controlled remotely for example via Art-Net, sACN, DMX-IN or even HTTP.

Plugins:

MADRIX 5 doesn't feature a plugin Option nor plugins. However the software comes with a C-like script language with a wide range of available functions.
