Hi there!

I bought 2 Plexus for a large 3-universe architectural light installation. Unfortunately I've encountered some limitations with Madrix and try to find another software that can run the Plexus hardware AND save a show with 3 universes to the 2 Plexus so the 3 universe show can run in stand-alone mode. Any advice?

My assumption is that any software other than Madrix talking to the Plexus via ArtNet can NOT download a 3 universe show to 2 Plexus for a stand-alone job, correct?

Hi Erwin!

You are right.
MADRIX PLEXUS can be used as a regular Art-Net node with other software for live data, but only MADRIX can save a stand-alone show on the PLEXUS.

Could I theoretically program a 3 universe show in another software, feed it back to MADRIX via the 2 Plexus units DMX-IN ports (2 Plexus would give me 4 DMX-IN parts = 4 universes) and then safe it through MADRIX USB back to the 2 Plexus units for synchronized stand-alone playback of 3 universes?

In steps:
(1) program 3 universe show in my preferred software
(2) feed DMX from that other software into MADRIX via 2 Plexus units 4 DMX-IN ports
(3) feed show back from MADRIX to the 2 Plexus units via USB for stand-alone

Makes sense?

Im curious about this too, i would like to use resolume avenue to run my led system for a synced to video show, this seams like the easiest solution instead of running separate software and trying to sync via time code.

How much fiddling will be involved setting the plexus up as an Ethernet dmx node?

It is not very difficult to use the PLEXUS as Art-Net node for an other lighting desk than MADRIX.

You only have to assign the desired Art-Net universe to the desired DMX output port. Therefore go in the PLEXUS to "Network > Art-Net" and change the settings for "Art-Net > DMX1" and "Art-Net > DMX2" to the desired Art-Net universes.
Please note: The "DMX1 > Art-Net" and "DMX2 > Art-Net" should be changed to "Off".

Furthermore the ligthing desk and the PLEXUS have to be in the same IP-Address range. In some cases you have to change the IP-Address of the PLEXUS. Therefor please go to "Settings > Network" and change the IP-Address to a desired address.
