Will my USB key I purchased to run version 2...
Will my USB key I purchased to run version 2...work with version 3? I purchase a Basic (1 universe) key and I need to know if it will work with version 3.
Let's hope so... I paid $450 for my Basic key and feel it should include updates for a while.

That depends entirely on your purchase date. Please contact your dealer and let him check if your MADRIX KEY is valid for MADRIX 3.

Or you could download MADRIX 3 and check today using the menu 'Help > About...' as explained here:

Please also note that over 40 MADRIX updates were released for MADRIX 2 free of charge. We have included hundreds of user wishes, new and improved features, fixture profiles, support for interfaces, bugfixes, and a lot more. MADRIX 3 is even bigger in this regard and simply is such a huge improvement and update.
